I’m a music theory prof at a university which recently moved all our courses to remote learning because of the pandemic. I had to very quickly figure out how to teach music theory at home, which requires that I demonstrate notation on the staff for my students. I don’t have a large space to work with or a fancy tablet/stylus setup for writing on the staff. I found these Dry Erase Staff Music Lap White Boards and immediately ordered the 10-pack because it was on sale for a great deal (I’ll use them in class later, I’m sure). They are the perfect size to hold up to a webcam (for videos, live videochat, or photos), work great with fine-tipped dry erase markers, and clean up very easily with the small eraser included with each one. Even with all the amazing technology available to music teachers right now, I’d say these little white boards are definitely in my top 5 resources that have saved my life.

We had to finish our college music theory class online. So all of the sudden I didn’t have access to a dry erase board with staff lines anymore. These little white boards were so useful when I got to the chapter on counterpoint. I could hold them right up to the camera and then write on them as the class came up with a counterpoint melody to go with the Cantus firmus.
If and when we get to teach in person again, I’ll still use them for ear training so that people can hold up their answers to interval and dictation exercises.
